ANCA is celebrating our MX7 10+ anniversary and revealing the winners of our customer competition on 1st May 2020

March 2020: With more than a decade of innovation and industry firsts, ANCA’s MX7 Linear is still the market leader and most popular mid-size range tool grinding machine across the world. Many technological innovations at ANCA are driven by simply wanting to get machines to do things better as well as offering solutions for customers. The MX7 is a perfect example of this philosophy implementing multiple market leading upgrades to offer a powerful and versatile tool grinder designed for production grinding.

A proud history of industry firsts sees MX7 features first to market time and time again

Launching in 2008, the MX7’s first deliveries to customers began from 2009, providing over 10 years of reliable production for global customers. The MX7 Linear was the first tool grinding machine in the world to use tubular linear motors; designed, built and supplied by ANCA Motion. This cutting edge technology provides unparalleled drive performance resulting in a high-quality surface on a cutting tool. Adding to ANCA’s reputation for industry firsts, the MX7 was the first tool grinding machine to use a laser inside the machine for in-process measurement. LaserPlus reduces operator intervention, integrating measurement and compensation on a cutting tool to very tight tolerances.

The MX7’s leading edge continued as the first tool grinding machine to have a permanent magnet spindle and to mount the grinding wheel and coolant manifold together in the same loading cycle. With further firsts such as incorporating a positionally controlled “Q-axis”, which enables the grinding spindle to be used as an axis, and being the first grinding machine to use Windows8; MX7’s capabilities and grinding output continue to offer superior results.

#ANCAMX7forlife: ANCA’s customer social media competition offers software prizes – drawn live on Instagram

ANCA Product Manager, Simon Richardson said: “Our customers continually report their delight with their MX7s for reliable tool production and versatility. Either running lights out or producing special orders, the MX7 has a proven track record of results. To celebrate over a decade of MX7 innovation, we want to hear from our customers, and from machinists – the true grinding experts about their real-life MX7 experiences.”

“From the 3rd of March to the 30th of April 2020 post a photo of your MX7 machine or tools ground on a MX7 machine on social media and/or tell us what you like the most about your MX7. Tag ANCA and add the hashtag #ANCAMX7forlife to be in with a chance win selected software prizes.* Winners will be drawn live on Instagram on Friday 1st May, 2020.”

Simon adds: “Our innovations are ultimately for our customers. We love sharing in our customers’ successes and seeing this reflected in their passionate digital community.”

Machine features offer maximum output and flexible options

The MX7 machine has a bi-symmetrical gantry design, minimising the effects of thermal growth and providing high precision grinding. The MX7’s automation options cater to usage needs with the RoboMate loader for high volume tool production and the FastLoad internal loader for small batch production and regrinding. The MX7 Linear builds on a decade of success, emerging as the next generation manufacturing machine for a range of industries and applications.
