The FX3 was the right machine for investment due to its superior design, versatile software, linear motors, application engineering support and detailed product information

Founded in 2013, in the municipality of San Nicolás de las Garza, Nuevo León, México, the company Thummin Simhec provides products to the automotive and aerospace industry in the north and in the Baja Peninsula. The company, which is 100% Mexican owned, specialises in the manufacture of solid carbide cutting tools.

In addition to these tools, the company also manufactures  drill bits, endmills, reaming tools and shaper cutters.  Thummin Simhec offers services such as: re-grinding, technical assistance and support, application engineering, technological services, coatings and manufacture of special cutters.  The company offers solutions and advice for the development of special tools and repair cutting tools.

One of the main advantages of Thummin Simhec is the short delivery time. Guillermo Olivares, the Commercial and Operational Coordinator added, “We are a company that provides integral solutions for machining processes with the highest quality, delivery time and competitive prices.” In order to keep up with demand and delivery times, the company has a linear ANCA FX3 machine as well as a lathe, inspection equipment, cylindrical grinding machines,  and Walter CNC grinding machines.

The FX3 Linear is an affordable first step into CNC tool grinding, it is economical with superior quality for an introductory machine. Features include linear motors on the X and Y axes, an AMD5x control system for faster processing and an HSK40F taper providing increased rigidity and accuracy for improved tool surface finishes.

Benefits of the machine include its small machine footprint and easy access thanks to a hand-held remote pendant and a 19" touch screen with Windows functionality including multi-touch and zoom. ANCA’s FX3 Linear with its 9kW wheel spindle and ample power to cover a wide range of tool applications, performs efficiently even when automation isn’t required. It offers the same software and machine quality that is found on all ANCA machines.

According to Olivares, several factors led him to buy the ANCA FX3. He visited IMTS in 2018 and saw product demonstrations of many CNC sharpening machine manufacturers, including ANCA’s.  What caught his attention about the ANCA machine was its design, versatile software, linear motors and the attention to detail and information that he received from the ANCA personnel. Another important factor in his decision was the beneficial cost of the machine and the payment terms.

Olivares points out that “The ease in the software and the precision of the machine has helped us to enter new markets and have greater capacity to manufacture special tools.” He added that the experience with ANCA was very good, “from the accuracy of the machine to the support of its application engineers. Their engineer, John Francis, trained us very well.”

Without a doubt, he would buy another machine in the future. In fact, his next purchase will be an ANCA FX5 machine.
