Indexable inserts are mounted in a holder and used in milling, drilling and turning operations. Inserts have multiple cutting edges which are available in many shapes, sizes and forms depending on the application. The benefit of an indexable insert is that it can be rotated in the holder in a machine when one side is worn to expose a new cutting edge. Specific workholding is usually required to hold the insert when grinding.
